I love what Easter stands for: resurrection: new life, rebirth, love.
We are coming out of our winter sleep. It is time to awaken. As a spiritual metaphor, Easter is a wonderful symbol for what we are all meant to do: awaken from our spiritual sleep, come alive, embrace the Spring within, celebrate the birth of new hope in our hearts.
If we are spiritually dead, we lose all hope.
We lose our desire to live, to create, to love, to laugh, to honour the goodness and beauty within ourselves and all other creation. If we are spiritually dead, we lose our spark. We lose the ability to embrace all the goodness, joy and enthusiasm for this glorious life that we have been given.
Sometimes, life does knock us down. It can be overwhelming, and it can make us feel like quitting.
I know, I’ve been there, many times. That pit of hopelessness can feel deep, dark, damp and impossible to climb out of. Yet, I am here to tell you that it can be done. Sometimes we need help, but I believe that anyone can overcome depression.
Dear one, I assure you that burning bright within each and every one of us is a spark.
This glimmer of light within can become a raging fire of love if we feed it. This is what ignites the passion for awakening with joy every morning.
Today, I invite you to take my hand. Let me show you the glory of the resurrection as we gaze upon the beauty of God.
You pick your version of your Higher Power. You decide who you want to represent hope, joy, love and enthusiasm. You decide to whose hand you will reach in order to raise yourself out of despair. That hand will show you the glorious beauty of Easter.
Our resurrection inspires us to stop focusing on the dirt, decay and death of this physical world.
Yes, these are scary times for those without faith. There is no need to linger in hopelessness. Faith allows us to raise our eyes up, to contemplate all that is good and right and beautiful, no matter what our circumstances.
Hard times always come to an end.
Lambs are frolicking in the fields today. Birds are chirping. Flowers are blooming. Beautiful fresh green leaves are unfolding. The sun is shining, and crisp mornings are giving way to warm afternoons. Linger and breathe deeply the clean, clear air. Look up through the trees and give thanks for the shelter, security and protection they provide.
Sit quietly. Allow yourself to hear Spirit whisper: “I love you, I love you, I love you.”
Can you let yourself soften into Spirit’s warm embrace? Can you feel yourself relax into the deepest, warmest caress of gentle love? Rest awhile, it is all going to be okay.
